US Day 4

Day 4 we decided to hit up the empire state building, times square, central park, the rockefeller center and everything in between. Empire State Building is amazing. the view was better than i had expected. It was packed with people as expected, but i can tell that they normally get so much more.

Next up we walked to the NYC Public Library and had a look around. Such a beautiful building.

After the NYC Public Library, we made our way to central park. Central park is pretty much in the middle of the city. The perfect place for people to escape the perils of city life. We only walked around maybe 30% of the actual park because we wanted to also check out the museum of natural history which is connected to the park. I would love to spend at least a whole day there.

Times Square was up next. Ive never been anywhere this busy. It is intense how many people congregate around this place, especially at night. We checked out the giant Toys 'r' Us. It had its own ferris wheel inside. Me and Chris sat there for about 30mins singing sabbath, joy division and david bowie covers.

At night we decided to go up the Rockefeller Building. Its pretty much the same deal as the Empire state building, yet its lower and offers a better view.

Day 3

today we walked all the way down broadway, stopping in at a few of the parks and shops and hit up most of the villages in downtown manhattan and some of the lower east side. One of the main attractions we were siked to see was cbgbs. we got there only to realise the place had turned into a trendy punk clothing shop. We talked to one of the guys who said they tried to keep as much of the original cbgb's as possible, but they weren't left with much. You can still see some of the walls covered in band stickers.

On the Way to battery park we stopped in at Ground Zero and Wall street. Then
we the walked down to battery park, where the ferries are to go over to the statue of liberty. Its a pretty amazing place.

US Day 2

Day 2 started in Kansas City. We had to be at the airport by before 9am so we could go through all the security. One thing i have realised is that alot of the more domestic terminals have more security then LA. When we flew into LA all we did was get our passport stamped, fingerprints taken and a photo. No questions asked at all. I was actually expecting it to be like an interrogation... well that is what i was told to expect.

We hope on the plane to be told that our flight was going to be delayed because of weather in chicago. We had to sit on the plane for nearly 2 hours while we got confirmation to leave.

We eventually get into new york but instead of landing in jfk we had to fly into La Guerdia airport. Minor set back. We all head to the train station to catch a train to our hostel. Chris and I leave for brooklyn to catch the end of the Bane set and all of the Crime In Stereo set. Crime in Stereo blew me away, such a good band. Show was good. The venue was at a place called Europa. reminded me quite a bit of places like hot damn etc, yet none of the "fashion punk" shit and it actually makes you want to go to the show and not feel dirty after being there for more than a minute. It was all ages as well which was awesome.

US DIARY: DAY 1

I met up with Chris and Sean at the airport and we boarded our plane bound for LA. We left sydney around 9am and got into LA on the same day at 6.20am. For a 14 hour flight it actually went pretty fast considering i couldn't sleep. We eventually touched down in LA to get a connecting flight to Dallas and then to Kansas City. All we saw of pretty much LA and Dallas was the airport as the airports are so far away from the city.

We departed Dallas around 4:45pm for Kansas city which was only suppose to be a 1.5 hour flight yet turned into a 4 hour flight due to weather delays. We were around 40 miles out of Kansas City when a storm front hit Kansas City. This storm front turned into a hurricane. We were forced to make a stop in some place in Nebraska to refuel. The plane made its way back to Kansas City to realise the front was still there, yet not as powerful. We still weren't permitted to land. So we had to circle the city for around 30mins until we were allowed to land. We landed fine and made our way to out motel for the night.

Chris went to a Gaslight Anthem show, only to get there after they finished. hahaha. While he was in the city, Sean and I decided to hit up Waffle House because we were starving. This place has 24 hour breakfast with the best waffles ive ever had. 5.99US for the lot and it was huge.

Tomorrow its onto New York.

update/posi rant..... well kind of

its been so long since ive updated this so i thought i would today considering i don't normally have access to a computer.

Move to sydney has been a hard thing, to leave my life in coffs and start fresh in a big city where i knew a hand full of people and that was it. Its only been over the past couple of days that i have realised that i have made the best choice i have ever made. Living down here has taught me alot about who I want to be and how I can achieve my goals. I've met some of the best people over the past couple of weeks from going to shows around sydney which has made it so worthwhile. I feel as though this is the place I can stay.

In 3 Weeks time i will be venturing around NYC, LA and Chicago for the Burning Fight shows. Ive been looking forward to this trip for nearly 6 months now.
